3.6.1.1 Developing corporate and business strategies that allow the management team to be more strategic in its thinking and actions and thus, be able to face the future challenges and changes in the external environment. Use the following two questions as a check:

• Does the current corporate culture align with the strategic thrust of the organization in meeting external competition and customers’ demands?

• Is the current corporate culture able to meet the changing market-place and business environments?

3.6.1.2 Creating an organization structure that will facilitate the achievement of organizational objectives and support corporate strategies. An effective and flexible organizational structure will empower line executives with responsibility and accountability, support effective work teams, enable more effective decision-making, and force employees to build relationships and react to environmental changes better. Use the following two questions as a check:

• Is the current corporate culture able to support the organization’s hierarchical levels and the degree of flexibility among the levels (horizontally and vertically)?

• Is the current corporate culture able to support the organization’s design in terms of the level of humanism or mechanism?

3.6.1.3 Adopting a suitable leadership style that will support and motivate employees to perform better and excel. Use the following two questions as a check:

• Is the current corporate culture able to encourage a sufficient level of openness and trust among the employees in the organization?

• Does the current corporate culture support the management’s tolerance for mistakes among the employees in the organization?

3.6.1.4 Installing comprehensive management and operational control systems that will release managers from routine tasks but enhance customer value and facilitate the overall efficiency of the organization. Use the following two questions as a check:

• Does the current corporate culture reinforce the effectiveness of the managing and operating systems (such as the performance management system, management information system, production system, etc.)?

• Is the current corporate culture (values and norms) built into the managing and operating systems?

Based on a preliminary corporate culture audit, the senior management, together with the middle and lower management, will then meet to discuss and develop a new corporate culture profile. If the corporate culture values are aligned with these organizational and managerial practices, it will strongly enhance the overall performance of the organization.
