Troubleshooting: You encounter problems finding files that should be in the search index

If you’re certain that the files you’re looking for are in an indexed location but they don’t turn up in search results, the index might have become corrupted. As with so many Windows features, there’s a troubleshooter for that.

Open Settings, and type fix search in the search box. Then click Find And Fix Problems With Windows Search. The troubleshooter that appears automatically finds and fixes any problems it can detect. If it finds none, it leads you through a series of steps to identify and resolve your problem.

Alternatively, you can manually rebuild the search index. From the Indexing Options dialog box, click Advanced, and then click Rebuild, under the Troubleshooting heading, as shown here:
