Chance Charming

Istared at Cindy as she laid in my guest room. It had been a couple of hours since we made it to my house, and she’d been sleep since I saw her in the street out of breath from running. I carried her in the house just like I did when I put her in my truck, so I didn’t wake her. She had a soft snore and looked peaceful sleeping on my sheets. Cindy’s hair was sprawled all over the pillow and her dress was slightly hiked up exposing her beautiful legs. I adjusted myself in my seat as I felt myself harden looking at her. I started to imagine how things would be if she had a permanent spot in my bed. How it would be when I came home every day and there she was softly snoring with messy hair.

I couldn’t help but think about the kiss we shared at the party. Instead of calling the police on her for attempted murder, I wanted to rip her out of her dress and allow our kiss to go further than what it was. Witnessing her take control of the situation with Dustin surprised the hell out of me. She was a badass and I wanted to know more about her. There was a knock at the door and then it opened. Bobby peeped his head in and signaled for me to step on the other side of the door. I looked back at Cindy to make sure she was still sleeping and exited the room.

“What’s up, B?”

“I got Dustin downstairs in the basement. He’s still scared to talk, so I knocked his ass out. Maybe that will bring him some sense.”

“Thank you. I’m still trying to wrap my head around all this shit. She was holding a broken bottle to his fucking neck. She was about to slit his throat.”

Bobby nodded. “Yes, sir, she was,” he said with a smirk.

“Don’t look at me like that, Bobby,” I said.

Bobby was my older brother from another mother. Carl and Bobby were best friends. Bobby mirrored Carl’s behavior when it came to me. He protected me and watched out for me like an older brother did. When Carl was found dead, Bobby beat himself up about it. He felt that if he would’ve been there, nothing would’ve happened. He felt he should’ve fought harder when my brother told him that he didn’t need him any longer that night.

“We are going to have to figure out what to do with Dustin but not before we find out everything that he knows. If this man was to end up dead all fingers would be pointed at me because we are running against each other,” I said to Bobby.

Bobby nodded because he understood where I was coming from. All roads and fingers would point in my direction, and I didn’t want to be involved with it. I planned to talk to Dustin but only when Cindy woke up. We both needed answers.

“Sir… Do you hear that?” Bobby asked.
