Acheron: The River of Sorrow
Alyssa
I was locked in a tower while the madness overtook me. The soul-destroying grief that wracked my body, making controlling my abilities impossible. The other angels feared me, concerned what I could accidentally do even to my own kind. I refused to eat or drinkâ yes even we need to consume energy of a form to keep our strength up. I barely slept, pushing my inhuman limits to the edge. I could not bring myself to take even the smallest of comforts to try and heal my body when Edmund was gone forever. The only thing I wanted to do was throw myself from the tower into the nothingness abyss below.
To fall forever. Lost like my heart.
What was the point of trying to make a home here when the person who made me feel like it was one was no longer here? Angels could die, but it took the weapons forged by the gods to do so. Of course, they wouldnât leave anything like that near the crazy angel, so I would have to bide my time. Wait them out, steal one. If I was lucky, it would be soon.
Edmund
I shook from the images I had been shown. Not just shown, felt in every part of my being, as if I myself was feeling them. Suffering what was happening. I could feel the aftereffects of my âdeathâ, see through her eyes how it had happened.
âThis isnât real, I am still here, beloved. Hold on, wait for me. I am coming for you!â I begged.
Alyssa
Weeks I had planned this escape, stolen weapons, and fled to a darkened room to try and end my own existence. But I had been found, the wounds were not deep enough. Or perhaps the blade not blessed properly. Either way, I found myself back in that tower alone with only my thoughts and my grief.
âCome back to me Edmund, donât leave me all alone. Please, I love you!â
Edmund
âAlyssa, I am here, baby, please. I need you to hear me, I need you to feel me here,â I begged. I felt so helpless, what was the point of watching all of this if I could do nothing to save her?
âStop this cruel insanity, let me help her!â I begged whatever or whoever was controlling this vision.
âPatience little one, you have much to learn yet.â
The voice sounded a little like the ferrymanâs, but I couldnât be sure. I just wanted this to end, and to chase back after the girl I loved.

Weeks had passed, I had become more and more desperate as time passed to end my own existence. The angels had been foolish, they had allowed me access to any books I wanted. Left me alone in grand libraries to study, hoping it would stop my mind from snapping. And that was where I found it, the way out of this hell. I could forget everything, I just had to find Letheâs pool. The Greeks spoke of the waters of the river Lethe countless times and its ability to remove all memory of pain.
