I’m pacing my bedchamber, wondering where the hell she is. I summoned her what feels like an age ago, and there’s still no sign of the little pest.

It’s still dark outside; the suns have yet to rise, and I considered waiting until daybreak before having Kim brought to me, but then I found myself too angry to sleep.

When Khan arrived with his little Omega in tow, it appeared all our prayers to Ulf were answered. It seemed like a simple enough plan: bring Hoo-man women to Ulfaria, give them serum to make up for the dearth of Ulfarri Omegas, and use them to create a new generation of Alphas and Omegas for our kingdoms.

Who could have guessed how much disruption would enter my life as a result? I didn’t factor in the way the rut would cloud every moment of my existence whenever I was in it, or consider how bringing in an outsider would change so many things.

Letting out a deep sigh, I clench my fists and try to calm down somewhat before she gets here. Showing anger never fails to make her reciprocate in kind, and as adorable as she is when she gets mad, squaring up to me—an Alpha almost twice her size—I quickly get impatient.

Such a shame we no longer have an abundance of meek, submissive Ulfarri Omegas. We tried the serum on a few Beta females, but it had no effect. And so we must resort to bringing in foreigners. If Emma is as defiant and disruptive as Kim, Khan never mentioned it.

I must ask him when we next speak.

Meanwhile, a good dose of discipline may help teach my little Hoo-man to behave and to stop disobeying my orders. Ulf knows, being patient and indulgent has not been working.

At last, the doors slide open and she shuffles in, awkwardly, looking tired. She’s pale, and once again, her unruly hair is sticking out at all angles. Her light blue gown makes her eyes shimmer even more green.

I tamp down a stab of longing when her floral, musky scent reaches me.

Now is not the time to avail myself of her lithe little body. She must learn her lesson first.

“Kim.” I use her name deliberately.

She stops a little way away and raises her chin, finally meeting my eyes. Even with bruised shadows under her eyes, there’s a fire blazing in her emerald gaze. She doesn’t say anything.

“Please, sit down.” I sweep my arm, indicating a nearby stool.

She crosses her arms in front of her pert breasts, refusing to budge.

As I knew she would.

I suppress a sigh.

“I heard what you did,” I say at.

More silence.

“Is it true?”

She’s still glaring at me. I want to shake her.

Rising to my full, towering height, I prowl towards her until I’m standing directly opposite her, and she has to lean back to keep glowering up at me. “Is it true?” My voice is imperious.

“Is what true?” she says, once she finally realizes I’m willing to wait indefinitely for a response.
