My work is inspired by the need to express a very strong sentiment that I have experienced, or that I experience in that particular moment. Most often I begin a painting with a previous idea, yet the final result rarely corresponds to my initial vision.

My favorite medium is oil paint and cold wax. I combine oil sticks, oil paint and cold wax to create a creamy, rich surface rifled with depth. I then further manipulate the surface through the reductive process of scraping away layers with a knife and solvents.

Experimenting and working with a variety of colors and textures allow me to drown myself in the process. The cold wax gives me the flexibility of creating a spectrum of textures and thus a quality of depth within each painting. The translucence that results from this helps me highlight the surface luminosity.

Abstraction allows each viewer the freedom to interpret the painting according to his own experiences. The artist too, is granted the freedom to achieve an expression that is completely pure and unrestricted; one that is a reflection of him. The artist can thus finally be himself. Through the use of abstraction, the painting is the palpable expression of his emotions and thoughts.

Painting is very much an emotional and spiritual process for me. It enables you to escape your own existence and lose the sensation of your body as you progress with the creation of each piece.
