The product is distributed as an installable bin file that you downloaded and copied across to the cell server earlier. Perform the following steps:

1. Locate the bin file.

2. Log on to the cell server as root.

3. By default the bin file is not executable; in order to make it so, type chmod +x <filename> where <filename> is the bin file you downloaded; the default filename is typically vmware-vcloud-director-5.1.1-868405.bin.

Note

The long suffix number—for example, 868405—denotes the build number, which may vary if you have downloaded a more recent build from the VMware site.
