“Good morning, my love,” Tyce greeted as she opened her front door.

Faye offered her a faint smile. “Can I come in?”

“No, I enjoy looking at you stand on my porch.” Tyce winked and stepped aside so Faye could come inside. She then closed the door and the women headed into the living room.

Faye came out of her Nike slides and made herself comfortable on Tyce’s couch. “Girl, you won’t believe what happened last night.”

Tyce sat on the loveseat across from her. “I thought you and Kane were going to see that play?”

“We were supposed to. So, tell me why we were having dinner and for some reason, Kane wasn’t touching his food. But the nigga made sure he was sipping his drink. Then Vada comes in and she wants to introduce me to Henni, so Kane goes to the bar and I guess he has a couple more shots while I’m gone.”

“Hold up,” Tyce interrupted, holding her index finger up. “You bitches went on a double date without me?”

“Girl, no. I didn’t even know Vada was coming and Quavo wasn’t even with her. She said he thought the play sounded too depressing.”

Tyce couldn’t help but chuckle. “He’s so ignorant.”

“Right. Anyway, back to what I was saying. So, by the time we head to the theater, Kane’s ass is drunk as fuck. We go to get off the elevator and some random man starts talking slick and Kane just blacked out. He started beating the shit out of the nigga, Tyce. I mean…I didn’t even recognize him for a minute.”

“What?”

“Yes, girl. I had to beg Kane to stop before security came and dragged our asses out of there.”

Tyce was stunned to say the least. For as long as she had known Kane, she’d never known him to display that kind of behavior. “Why was he drinking like that? Something must be going on.”

“I don’t know, Tyce. I kept asking him, but he played it like everything was good. I’m worried about him.”

“Where is he now?”

“Girl, he’s in the bed knocked the fuck out. After we got back last night, he apologized to me for hours until he passed out.”

Tyce placed her hand over her heart. “Poor thing. Don’t be too hard on him, Faye. I know he probably fucked up your night, but Kane is really a good guy.”

“I know that, Tyce. I just wish he would open up to me. Something is obviously on his mind, but he refuses to talk to me about it. Last night before all the bullshit happened, he told me he loved me. I wanna believe him but–”

“Faye, he does,” Tyce assured her. “I can tell just by the way he looks at you and the way he speaks about you. That man is head over heels…trust me.”

Then why won’t he talk to me? Faye asked herself. She looked up when she heard the sound of someone clearing their throat, and laid her slanted eyes on Meko. Faye had to admit that her best friend had good taste.
