“He has you so spoiled,” Bleu said with a smile as she and Violet marveled at Violet’s new truck.

Violet looked up from the dashboard at Bleu and smiled. “Yeah, he does. It’s ridiculous.”

“It is,” Bleu said in agreement, as she stood with her hands in her back pockets, feeling another tinge of jealousy. She hated that she felt the way that she did, but she couldn’t help it. Her mood was sour and holding back the way she felt about Violet and Prodigy’s relationship was getting harder with each passing second.

“This truck is fly,” Theory complimented after walking around, admiring it. “It’s so big, Vi. Do you think you’ll be able to drive it?”

Violet giggled. “Yeah, I drive his sometimes. It will take a little getting used to, since I drive the Benz more than anything.”

“The Benz he just got you for your birthday, right?” Bleu commented, shaking her head. “Whew. He has money to just throw around, doesn’t he?”

With dipped brows, Violet said, “We’ve known that about them since before we knew who they were. Remember… We talked about how lavish Clairmont Manor was, and about how all of the rooms were pointlessly furnished? Prodigy having money to throw around isn’t anything new. You say it as if you’re surprised, Bleu.” Violet shrugged. “Besides, he’s not really throwing it around. He’s just… He likes to buy me nice things.”

Violet had been avoiding the money conversation since Bleu arrived. But now, as they stood outside, boots dusted with snow, freezing without coats, Violet was a bit reluctant to be as modest as she was before. Bleu’s comments were starting to wear her down.

“But… do you think you’ll get used to this? Like… What’ll happen when he decides to take it all away?” Bleu asked, gesturing towards the car, and the house.

“Why would he take it all away?” Theory asked, with a puzzled look on her face.

“Exactly. Why would he take it all away? He’s not going to take anything away.”

Bleu looked away, her hands stuffed back inside of the back pockets. “I’m cold. I think I’m going to go inside. What time are we leaving for the festival?”

Violet eyed Bleu with concern. What did she mean ‘when he took it all away’? As if the things Prodigy did for her were temporary. Violet was no fool; she knew her sister was second guessing and side eying her relationship. She understood why but what Bleu felt about it was null and invalid. Her opinion meant absolutely nothing. If for a split second Violet thought her love with Prodigy was anything other than what it truly was, she would have been planning an exit. If their foundation was shaky and he had some of his old ways about him, then she wouldn’t have even been standing in front of Clairmont Manor. There was no telling where Violet’s life would be if they weren’t together. But she did know that she wouldn’t be settling for anything less than great just because he gave her nice things.
