Chapter Nine

The alarm clock woke Bet at six the next morning and she struggled with the temptation to snuggle back into Alex’s warm body. Today was her first day of orientation at the hospital and while she was eager to return to work, her body longed for the physical comfort of sleeping next to Alex. As quietly as she could she slipped from the bed and closed the bathroom door behind her as she ran a nice hot shower. As she bathed, the memory of last night’s lovemaking was renewed and Bet could barely restrain herself from waking Alex with some early-morning loving. Instead, Bet dressed and crept downstairs to retrieve the scattered clothing from the office and pour the coffee.

When she returned to the bedroom carrying steaming coffee, Bet found Alex awake and propped up on pillows at the head of the bed. “Good morning,” Alex whispered as Bet set the coffee down on the table and crawled onto the bed.

“Good morning, lover.” Bet picked up a mug and handed Alex her first cup of coffee.

“Are you excited about today?”

“I am, but it sure is tempting just to crawl back into bed with you and love the morning away,” Bet replied with a wicked grin.

“I’ll be ready and waiting when you get home today and you won’t miss a thing,” Alex promised as she caressed Bet’s cheek.

“That will definitely give me the energy to make it through the day,” Bet said as she stood and kissed Alex on the lips. “Right now, I better get moving or I am going to be late.” “Have a great day,” Alex said as Bet started for the stairs.

“You too, sweetie.” Bet whispered and then she was down the stairs and out the front door, followed closely by Max.

Alex stretched once more in the bed and headed for the shower to wake her stiff body, the warm water soothing the still exhausted muscles. The intensity of her orgasms last night surprised Alex and the tenderness in her body served as a pleasant reminder of just how much she enjoyed it. She remained under the flow for several minutes as her body slowly relaxed.
