Finally, all the studying and hard work paid off. I was officially a licensed realtor and I couldn’t wait to start flipping houses. That’s where my passion was and it was going to make me a lot of money in the process. I had attended a few seminars on the subject soaking up everything I could to make for a smooth transition. My family needed this to work and so did I.

My sister Alene finally got the courage to leave her lying cheating ass husband so her and my nieces were temporarily staying with me. I didn’t mind, but it also meant I needed more money to support the four of us until she could get on her feet.

“Lene come on I’m going to be late.” I yelled helping my youngest niece, Naomi put on her shoes.

“I’m coming.” Her car was in the shop so let her borrow mine. I was doing her a favor yet she was moving at her own pace. Alene had no sense of urgency about anything which is probably why it took her so long to leave her damn husband.

“Lene! Let’s go!”

“Alright, alright, I’m ready.”

“I told you I had something to do.”

“Why do you think you can boss everybody around?”

“Not everybody just you, and because you need it.”

“You are aware that I’m the older sister, right?” She asked as if that meant something. I loved my sister to death but her decision-making skills had always been questionable. Alene was extremely impulsive and making rash decisions became a hobby for her.

After securing the girls in the car, we proceeded downtown so she could drop me off to meet with a few of my classmates. Everyone in our study group passed so we were meeting up to celebrate. Double checking my messages, I still hadn’t received anything from Jermaine. I went out on a limb texting him even when my gut told me not too. He was a friend but I also found myself enjoying his company when I shouldn’t have.

“Hey boo! Are you the first one here?” I asked greeting my classmate with a hug.

“Yup.”

“I know Chris is coming, Ashley said she wasn’t sure if she could make it.”

“Is Jermaine coming?” Tanisha asked.

“How would I know?”

“I see the way he looks at you.”

“That’s his problem.” I wish it was that simple. Mentally I knew Jermaine was off limits but I still found myself looking for him when I walked into the classroom. Aside from the physical attributes God blessed him with he was extremely confident, borderline arrogant but I was still intrigued. The white gold wedding band on his left hand forced me to tuck those thoughts away.

“You’re the only person he talks to. I was just wondering.”

“We talk in class, that’s it.”

Did you invite him?”

“I invited everybody so stop it.”

“Does everybody include Calvin because he gets on my damn nerves.”

“Calvin is a part of everybody.”

“Oh, hell I’m going to need another drink.” Tanisha growled signaling our server to the table.

Jermaine never confirmed or denied if he was coming but that was one surprise I was hoping for.
