Chapter 12

Kiyomi

“Mommy, you see me?!”

“I see you, Kiye,” I laughed, watching her ride the Dumbo ride at Disney World with Tonii. With my Godson in my arms, I looked from him to them with the biggest smile. Over the past month, I had been focused on me and mine.

Kiye meant more than she would ever know, so I wanted to spend as much time with her as I could right now. My Aunt Elaine had been a great help with explaining the hard questions she had since Menace had led her to believe that Kaori was me. Having to break down the truth to a three-year-old wasn’t the easiest, but having her confused wasn’t an option. The topic would never go away, and though it’s been tough, I was making do.

Coming out to Florida for a few days was our last stop before I was jumping back on the scene. I needed time for myself and my child. These past weeks, I allowed myself to heal in the places that I knew would bleed for an eternity if I didn’t deal with it. In a better head space than before, I was aiming to get back to stripping and following through with my classes at the college to snatch up my degree. Going back on stage, I knew I couldn’t come back half stepping. I was coming for my bag, and coming hard.

My stay at Steppa’s house didn’t last as long as he wanted. We both knew that reacting to what we lusted after, was us moving way too soon. Once I had Kiye back, I was back in my own house. Me and Steppa kept everything on a friend level and he gave me the space I asked for from the beginning.

“Mommy! Mommy! I did it!” Kiye was coming out of the gate, running straight to me. Smiling, it was moments like this that would always have me going hard for my little girl. I didn’t care what the DNA looked like, this child was me!

“You did, baby,” I said while bouncing True.

“Girl, you talkin’ bout that ride ain’t high. It was high enough,” Tonii huffed, and I couldn’t do anything but laugh. Kiye had talked her into riding with her, and I think she enjoyed seeing her Aunty scared of heights more than the ride itself. “Best friend you got me.”

“No, TeTe!” Kiye was cracking up laughing.

“C’mon girl. I swear nothing scares you,” I said shaking my head, and making sure True wasn’t getting hit with too much sun. His greedy butt didn’t do anything, but drink his milk and sleep while we were on vacation.

Spending the rest of the afternoon at Magic Kingdom, we retired to the two-bedroom penthouse we had booked for the trip. Once the kids were fed, bathed, and in bed, we were knocking back the wine.

“Shottas got my nerves bad with me being out of town,” she sighed as she looked at a video he sent. She showed me next, and I had to take a big gulp of wine down.
