FOX AND ROB
The experience of incarcerated families is a unique one. In many cases, itâs women who are left waiting. Wives, girlfriends, mothers, grandmothers, aunts, and caregivers. They find themselves laying away much of the time, waiting to reunite with their family members, waiting to put their families back together again. One of the most important things women on this journey must remember, though, is that they are the ones who are free. And they must live as free as they possibly canâin mind, body, and spiritâuntil their person comes home. Thatâs not easy to do. In fact, sometimes itâs only by the grace of God that they are able to hold on themselves. Even though their partners are incarcerated, they can only own the part they played.
It wasnât Foxâs fault that Rob was sentenced to sixty years. Sheâd done her time. Sheâd done what the state required of her. She couldnât live in guilt because she was home and he was not. The next phase of her journey was about taking care of the family while continuing to support our legal agendaâan agenda that would include the uncovering of the misinterpretation of a law that could set Rob free. But God was also revealing to her that she could not put her whole life on hold while waiting for Rob to return home. Especially since tomorrow isnât promised. As Rob was working and, in his own way, praying, Fox was also centering herself. And both of us, in the midst of our wait, were being restored.
