The weather in Alabama had been extremely bipolar for the past few weeks. Rebel didnât know if she should dress for warm weather or cold. For it to be the end of October, the mornings were extremely cold, and the afternoons were still in the high eighties. Since they had an outdoor activity planned for later that evening, she decided on something cute yet warm. Things had been going so well and the feelings that she was experiencing was beyond Rebelâs wildest imagination. Modest was a breath of fresh air that she didnât know she was missing. He slid his way into her life like a thief in the night. But she wouldnât dare complain about it. Rebel welcomed the distraction because it kept the depression and sadness at bay. The holidays were rapidly approaching, and Rebel did her best to busy herself. Lately, every little thing seemed to be a reminder of her parents.
It was the weekend of the Magic City Classic and being an Alabama A&M alumni, Rebel was always on the scene. That year was no different, and she couldnât wait to post all the good content that was sure to come for her blog. Although she was excited about the weekend, there was a sense of sadness surrounding her. It was a year of many firsts for Rebel. One, not having her father by her side as they sat and watched two rivals play against one another. Then with her birthday and Christmas right around the corner, Rebel just didnât know what to do with her feelings. It didnât help that Dave was planning a surprise wedding on Christmas for Jess, and she opened her mouth to assist with the planning. Being a woman of her word, Rebel had already gotten things underway. Time was ticking and she had something she wanted to do before her date with Modest and the crew.
Once in her truck, Rebel went back to her old neighborhood and rode by her parentsâ house. Pulling in the driveway, she noticed that everything still looked good. She walked the perimeter of the house to ensure that no one had been trying to break in and was satisfied that everything looked normal. Her parentsâ neighbor, Ms. Jessie Mae, came out and spoke with her for a few minutes before she hopped back in her truck and headed to the Dollar General. As Rebel walked down the aisle, the nostalgic feeling coursing through her was overwhelming. When she got to the artificial flowers, tears threatened to fall as she stood there gathering different flowers for two bouquets. Just as she was finished and heading back toward the front to checkout, she ran into the last person she expected to see.
âI knew I would catch yo ass again! You thought you could leave me, and I was going to just be okay with it?â Antonio spat, causing her to flinch.
âI donât have time for your shit, Antonio. Move out the way so I can be on my way.
