Keturah left Agatha to her reading and went to explore more areas of her vast new domain. The place was a labyrinth, well constructed and crafted to comfortably accommodate three men-three immortal generals. Could there be a more formidable description for such a group? She didn’t know. At any rate, she was pretty sure that their residence had been designed to suit them to a tee.

By late afternoon she’d discovered the theater wing. There were two whole rooms devoted to what had to be the most extensive private movie collection on earth. The smaller of the two rooms was devoted to book to film adaptations. Keturah had browsed the collection for almost an hour. Gleeful and expectant, she uncovered one jewel after another. Above each shelf of DVDs was a shelf holding the book it had been adapted from. She resisted barely the urge to squeal upon discovering the 1973 film version of Murder on the Orient Express and the Agatha Christie novel above.

“Both are good no matter how many times you read or watch them.”

Oz’s cavernous voice behind her; unexpected and soothing as it was, didn’t cause Keturah to flinch in surprise. She was getting accustomed to his uncanny gift for stealthy movement. Her smug satisfaction eased all too quickly however when she turned. Oz’s easy expression tensed as well. It took less than a second for him to read her face.

“What?” he demanded.

“I had the best breakfast this morning. Such a great time talking to the chefs at The Tribe. They um...they all love you a lot,” she said.

Oz nodded and while the hint of a smile curved his mouth, his striking stare harbored concern. “They’re good men,” he said.

She didn’t try to side step him once he’d closed the distance between them. He would keep her trapped against the shelf until she shared what had her on edge. Her eyes shifted to his short sleeve which stopped just below his cuff. She could see its imprint beneath the material.

“They’re happy for you,” she said. “They say they’ve never seen you like this. Told me I seem to have some...some effect on you,” she sighed, pleased to have finished.

Sleek brows rose and fell quickly before a knowing glint emerged in his eyes. He understood.

“Guess I get it now,” Keturah smiled and shrugged faintly. “How you feel about someone being forced to be attracted to you.”

“I was never forced,” Oz’s smile was tense along with his expression. “Those Enchantment Spells were designed with women in mind. One of the reasons they were outlawed.”

Keturah’s expression demanded clarification.

Oz took the Orient Express DVD and headed out of the theater library. “Before the spell was used to ease a woman’s uncertainty about bedding a Warrior, it was a tactic Priests used to attract Priestesses. They preferred to bed Warriors, you see and that would’ve eventually put a serious dent in the Priesthood population.”

He smiled while studying the DVD cover. “Despite their...lofty opinions of themselves, they have to reproduce same as the rest of the Realm’s creatures.
