CHAPTER 7
CHOICES
EMBRACING OR REJECTING THE MOVEMENT
We all have been given free will. We have the ability to embrace or reject what God is doing on the earth. He will not force His will on us. Since the beginning of creation, when God created man, He gave every person the power of choice. Adam and Eve made the wrong choice when they ate the fruit of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. Their choice opened the door for sin to enter the entire human race.
Choices have repercussions. Even as I am writing this, I am reminded of the fact that not everyone will embrace this coming wave of God. Not every church or believer will, or even wants to, experience the coming outpouring. There are churches that are filled with people every week, but have closed the door to the Holy Spirit. Those churches have, in essence, told God to move only on their terms. As long as He will move according to their schedule and within their set format, then they will accept His moving. God is through with being restricted by man. There is a remnant arising that will carry the glory of God. In fact, they are actively pursuing His glory.
There are so many stories in the Bible concerning choices. You can talk about Ruth and how she was faced with the option to leave Naomi, but every time she was given a choice, she made the steadfast decision that she was going to return with her.
And Ruth said, Intreat me not to leave thee, or to return from following after thee: for whither thou goest, I will go; and where thou lodgest, I will lodge: thy people shall be my people, and thy God my God: Where thou diest, will I die, and there will I be buried: the Lord do so to me, and more also, if ought but death part thee and me. When she saw that she was stedfastly minded to go with her, then she left speaking unto her (Ruth 1:16-18).
The circumstances were that Naomiâs husband and two sons had died, leaving two daughters-in-law faced with the decision to either go with Naomi to Bethlehem or return to their own hometown in Moab. They could move into the new, not knowing what the future held for them, or they could return to the old, which was familiar to them. Whenever God does a new thing, the most vocal criticism of it comes from the last move of God. People have the mindset of this was how God did it for us and this is the only way He wants to move. Sadly, it is often our own resistance that blocks the new flow of God in our lives. He passionately desires for us to embrace the new. We must remember He is a God who is constantly and consistently giving new beginnings. After all, He is Alpha and Omega, the Beginning and the End!
Orpah chose to go back to Moab,
