AM1 is not as widely recognized as Yu Suzuki’s AM2, but it was much more prolific in its development. By the time it received the AM designation, the group had produced around 40 different titles. Designer Koichi Izumi, of the sister division AM3, once joked that there were so many games developed by AM1 that he couldn’t remember them all (“Hitmaker Lounge”). That incredible level of production would continue after the reorganization, and AM1 would develop some of Sega’s most acclaimed titles of the ’90s.
