Chapter Thirteen

I stood in the room for a few minutes silently, letting myself feel all of the emotions that ran through my body.

It wasn't something that I was used to doing, but it was something that was necessary. I realized that I had been so focused on trying to push through everything that I wasn't giving myself enough time to feel everything, and that was a big reason as to why I was feeling so overwhelmed.

I may have been a magical badass, but I was a magical badass who was also human. I was my biggest critic, and it was time for that to stop.

By the time Silas found me my tears had dried and I was making my way out of the room with the time clock in hand.

"There you are. I was worried bloody sick about you."

"What, were you afraid someone was going to kidnap me? Everyone's frozen, remember?" I smiled with a thick layer of sarcasm on my face and Silas smirked too.

I could tell by the glint in his eye that he knew something about me was different. The second his eyes landed on the clock in my eyes they widened.

"I knew if anyone was going to be able to get it out of the case it was sealed in, it would be you."

"Of course. I am an eden, remember?" I raised my eyebrows proudly. "Now all we need to do is figure out what the hell is going on, what it has to do with the time clocks, and how I can fix it."

"So just another normal day for you." Silas smirked.

"Got that right." I smiled.

From there I led myself through the hallways, backtracking the steps that we had taken until we made it to the large corridor near the front entrance. I made it down the stairs and spotted a person standing near the doorway with a backpack on that would be perfect for the clock.

I whispered a redundant apology for boosting it as I slipped it off his shoulders and dropped the clock and the journal inside.

Silas opened the flap and added the looking glass too.

I made my way back into the courtyard and groaned at the group of angry men that stood frozen in it. They were just as I'd left them, angrily fighting, frozen with the elements that they had been hell bent on using as weapons. They were the same and I knew it, but I, on the other hand, felt different.

I felt rejuvenated, like I had a new sense of purpose, and for the first time in a while I believed in myself.

I didn't know what was in the journal that my father had slipped into my hands, but I trusted that I would know what to do with it at the right time.

That was more than I could say for the guys.

"Would you like to hear my theory?" Silas asked as I stared at their frozen faces in frustration.

"Go for it."

"I don't think breaking the seal and releasing Asher broke the curse.
