âLeLe, this is crazy. Who would have ever thought that this would be my life? Hell, even when I knew that I wanted to do nails, I never envisioned something so big,â I said to my best friend. I was still shocked at how fast everything happened after getting certified.
âI donât know why you think itâs crazy. With all that praying, meditating, and manifesting that you do, you should have seen this coming. You prayed for this, boo. And you deserve it. I can tell you now. Youâre about to have the hottest salon in the city. Yo ass gonâ have to expand because you not gonâ have enough chairs for all the business thatâs coming.â
Me and Leana were at my salon, cleaning and decorating. My grand opening was in another week, and I had the most anxiety that Iâd ever had about anything in my life. When I thought that I would be renting a salon suite after graduation, I was more excited than nervous. The only worry that I had was about my clients. Depending on what side of town the suite was on, I hoped that they would make the commute. Owning an entire salon was something that I never thought about.
Immediately after the beautiful dinner that Eli planned, we got to work. I filed for my LLC and began the mental preparation for it all. Eli was always full of surprises. The day after the dinner, he had me booked for a hair, nail, and makeup appointment. Then he drove me to a blank billboard and told me that my face would be on it advertising my new business. He had a photoshoot booked for later that evening, and I quickly hit up Leana so she could get my wardrobe together.
It didnât take long for the calls to come pouring in after my billboard was finished. Iâd always been a humble person, and it would take for someone else to tell me how big of a deal I was. Although I had grown my following on Instagram to nearly 20k with all my nail marketing, I didnât realize just how much people in the city fucked with me. After seeing my billboard, so many nail techs, hairstylists, and make-up artists were hitting me up by phone and Instagram to come work in my place. I didnât think that the ad would get so much attention. It was overwhelming, but Leana had been there every step of the way to help me out. Sheâd even taken the initiative to interview and hire the stylists. I was grateful because I had always been indecisive. I promised her that as soon as my money started rolling in, I was going to pay her graciously. She declined, but I wasnât trying to hear it. Leana didnât realize her importance in my business. If I didnât have her by my side throughout the process, I probably would have declined Eliâs gift. Honestly, I didnât think I was ready. Eliâs money and words of encouragement was what got me out of my shell.
