Chapter 22

Some Good and Some Bad News

Riley

Galina stands naked at the foot of the bed, putting her hair up in a ponytail. I’d just yanked the holder out of her hair as I took her from behind against the wall. Her small hands above her head were clinching as I made her explode around my cock. I was lying on her bed, my hands behind my head with a smile that could rival the Cheshire cat. I drank her smooth skin in and felt my blood rush to my groin again. I liked fucking this girl.

Galina comes to the side of the bed, smiling as she leans forward, kissing me. She stands back up before I can wrap my arms around her and pull her onto the bed.

“I’m going to miss this,” she says wistfully.

“No need to worry, lovely red. I’ll be back soon,” I say with cocky assurance.

Galina begins picking up her discarded clothes from the floor.

“I’m afraid this was the last time, Prince,” she says, not looking at me.

“What?” I say, sitting up.

“My new husband isn’t going to want to share me,” she says, looking over her shoulder at me while she puts on her shirt.

“What new husband?” I’m on my feet, gently turning her toward me so I can look into her eyes.

“I’m getting married in two diahs,” she says, avoiding the details.

“Since when are you getting married?” I ask.

“Oh, it’s been arranged for about six lunars now,” Galina replies with a small smile.

“What … your family has found you a husband?” I wonder.

“No, I’ve been seeing the portal master’s son, and he wants me to marry him,” Galina says simply.

“What the hell? You’re telling me you’ve been cheating on me?” I ask, scowling.

She has the nerve to laugh, a full-throated laugh that jiggles her shoulders. “Cheating on you? Oh, Riley, that’s hysterical.”

“What makes it so damn funny?” I turn around, fuming and struggling to button my pants.

Galina reaches for my hand, but I move away—more pissed than I thought I’d be. “Don’t be upset. We both know this was never going to go anywhere. You’re a prince, after all.”

“Yes, I am a prince, which means it could go somewhere if I say it could,” I huff.

“Oh, please don’t insult my intelligence, Riley. I wanted you, so I had you. You know very well that’s exactly what you did with me. Let’s part as friends,” she says, leaning toward me for a hug. I let her arms wrap around me. It’s not that I loved Galina. I was really into our physical relationship, and I do care for her as a person. How could I blame her for wanting a life with someone she could truly be with? No, I couldn’t begrudge her happiness. Besides, I didn’t plan to get serious with anyone, ever. Life was too freaking fun to settle.

“I’m happy for you, Galina. I will miss you,” I say.

“Just think of me fondly from time to time. After you get used to the idea that I was the one to pull the plug on this and not you.
