Chapter Nine

A few hours later

"Damn, ma. You smell sweet as fuck, but you looking even better," he said as soon as she hopped into the truck. She slipped on a pair of black fitted jeans, a silver Bebe top that hung low in the back, and black and silver sandals. She'd told Nana there was cheerleading auditions and she was one of the judges. Slipping out before they could see her, Myriah admired how quickly she was able to pull something together that was casual but showed off her voluptuous figure. She put on her favorite Bath and Body Works body lotion and spray, Japanese Cherry Blossom, and pulled her hair up into a messy ponytail.

"Not really," she replied, now feeling shy in his presence. She wasn't used to compliments, which he gave out every time he was around.

"Shit, come here," he demanded, pulling her full, pouty lips into his mouth, tasting her lip gloss that now coated his tongue. "Keep that up and we may not see shit today, girl." She knew he was teasing, but pulled back, giving him a quick peck on the lips after thoughts of her rendezvous with Keyz the night before crept in her mind. To make sure she ignored him today, she put Keyz on block, making sure his calls and text messages went unanswered. He didn't call that often, but after the night they had last night, she knew he might want to see her again before he left town. Chico, dressed in a brown, Versace short buttoned top and jeans, revealing his tatted, firm arms, looked amazing to her. His Tom Ford cologne tickled her nose, as she shifted in her seat trying to get her mind right.

No, this one is different, she said to herself. He wants me for me.

"Can we listen to the radio?" she asked, hoping some music would transport her thoughts into a positive place.

"My?" he asked with a smirk. "Didn't I tell you when you with me, it's your world, ma? Turn that shit on and stop tripping witcho sexy ass." His butter pecan skin glowed in the morning sun, causing her to smile even harder as he flexed his bicep with one hand on the steering wheel, as they jumped on I-95 headed to Hollywood Beach.

"Oh, now! This my shit!" she shrieked when Jazmine Sullivan's "Need U Bad" came on. Winding and grinding slowly in her seat, Chico bobbed his head up and down, watching her go to a place he'd never seen her go to before. Her voice, squeaky yet soulful making him chuckle out loud. Turning it down, he got her attention, wanting to know who she was singing about.

"Now you know I know that shit you singing ain't for me, but that smile though. Let me do that for you," he asked, lifting her chin with a serious look on his face.

"Okay," she spoke softly, looking away as her stomach felt fluttery. Maybe it was love, but she wouldn't know that given her history.
