Amanda slowly came out of a perfect combination of sleep and warmth. Lucius lay on his stomach with his arm thrown across her middle.

Her eyes widened. What had she done? She’d slept with Lucius! That hadn’t been her best idea. Yet he’d been so tempting, standing there in the kitchen with water dripping off his head and his chest bare.

He’d caught her with her mouth still gaping when he’d pulled her into his bathroom. Her surprise had turned to shock when he had all but stuffed her into the shower. She could recognize sexual hunger in a man, and it had been written all over Lucius’s face.

As she’d stood under a hot shower that had done nothing to ease the want in her she’d become angry. When she wanted something she went after it. And right then, irrational and impractical as it might be, she’d wanted Lucius. Wanted to meet his challenge.

Determined, she’d stepped out of the shower, dried her hair in a towel and walked into his room, daring him to break down that wall she’d made him erect. She still couldn’t believe she’d dropped her towel and stood naked in front of the most handsome man she knew. Yet she’d found the courage to do it.

What she’d shared with Lucius had been beyond anything she’d ever had with a man before. A generous lover, Lucius had known all the right spots to taste and touch. She’d never felt more glorious or wanted than when he’d been loving her.

She looked at him now, all strong and sensual man. Outside the storm had passed, but one grew within her and hovered like humidity on a hot day. She wanted his kisses again—and more. She needed his loving.

But she couldn’t. It just wouldn’t be wise. It would be too easy to want more and more from him. For as long as she could have it. And her experience told her that wouldn’t be for very long.

Carefully lifting his arm, she slowly slid out from under it, then moved across the bed and off it. She headed for the door, with her own room as her intended destination.

“Where’re you going?”

She jerked to a stop and turned. Lucius lay on his side with his head propped on his hand. His full attention rested on her.

“I’m going to my bed. I thought you might want to sleep by yourself.”

He raised a brow. “What made you think that?”

“I don’t—”

Lucius sat up and the sheet dropped to his waist leaving her with a lovely view of his chest.

“Running away, Amanda?”

She bit her upper lip. “I don’t run from anything.”

He waved her over. “So come back here, then.”

Lucius wanted her again. It showed clearly in his eyes. But for how long? That was the crucial question, but right now that didn’t seem to matter. The heat, the hunger, the promise of heaven was being offered. Just waiting for her to take it. She wouldn’t let that go—yet.

His look made her bold. She strolled back to the bed.
