Days passed, and I hadn’t heard from Chi since he dropped me back off at home after having the time of my life at Sin’s concert. My head was all fucked up by the way that he could go from making me feel so special, like I was the only one he wanted to be with, and then after a perfect night just drop me off and not call me like I wasn’t worth shit.

After the show ended, Chi had introduced me to Sin before taking me home. Sin was obviously very different from Chi and his real personality was much different from the persona he gave off on stage. On stage, Sin was live and energetic. He seemed comfortable in the limelight. But, in person, he was low-key and seemed quiet and shy. It was kind of cute.

He was almost bashful when he met me, barely looking at me and simply shaking my hand quickly when Chi introduced us. He spoke so low that I could barely make out his words, and his touch was soft and gentle when he shook my hand, almost like he was afraid he’d break me. He was definitely nothing like Chi, who was rugged, loud, abrasive and in your face. Chi was the life of everywhere he went and only found comfort in being the center of attention. Sin was more like the type who lingered in the shadows. He didn’t even seem to like it when his female fans gushed over him. He wore a cap on his head to try to blend in to the crowd so he wasn’t recognized when he walked around the club.

After meeting him, Chi and I left the club and he took me straight home. I was so excited that I could barely sit still the whole drive home. When I got out of the car, I still had stars in my eyes from having such a wonderful night. But then Marisol had to come and ruin it.

“I said one hour! You had ha for three hour!” Marisol shouted as soon as she snatched the door open. I’d been expecting a kiss goodnight from Chi, but she busted that up quick.

“Here.” Chi shrugged, tossing some money into Marisol’s open hand. She quickly counted it and I guess it satisfied her because she simply walked back into the house, slamming the door and leaving us outside.

“I guess you bought more time,” I told him as I rolled my eyes and laughed a bit, despite my embarrassment.

“I guess so,” Chi replied and then clipped me on the bottom of my chin with his thumb, pulling my face up to look at him. “Aye, you wanna leave here? I can get you a new place. If you don’t wanna be stuck in this situation, I’ll change it for you.”

He didn’t have to ask me twice. I knew that while I was gone partying, Marisol was probably lining up men to keep me busy all week. It had never even occurred to her that I wanted more for my life.
