She didn't know how long it took to reach Rogan's barn. For a while, she didn't even know that's where she was. So much had happened in such a short span of time that she wasn't entirely sure her mind hadn't just shut down, barricading her inside a safe, warm place where minotaur didn't exist and she wasn't a cum-milking slave now expected to...

She couldn't even think of it. It just didn't make sense, even with what Rogan had told her about the woman he'd taken during his father's conquest. Humans and minotaur were similar enough in some ways--she knew that firsthand, after all--but it couldn't be possible. She wasn't pregnant. She would know, wouldn't she?

Maybe not. Maybe she was already demonstrating how horrible a mother she would be. Following in the family line, naturally. The fact that the Baroness would surely perish at the thought of a minotaur being the newest heir to the Arenai barony was a small comfort.

Rogan let her be for a time, setting her down in the bed of blankets he'd arranged. She didn't watch this time as he cleaned himself off, nor did she wonder at the fact that he chose to cover himself with what amounted to a loin cloth. And for a time, when he watched her with concern, she just ignored him.

It wasn't his fault. Not really. If he'd had his way, there would be no possibility of a calf. They simply wouldn't have fucked. She would go about her duties until Vaia saw fit to release her, for Kiryn knew now that if she hadn't forced the woman's hand, she would likely be free by now.

Perhaps Meg and Ygrid and the others had been just like her at one point, but she doubted it. They each seemed cut into the business side of the operation. Even Meg, who Kiryn was beginning to suspect was a great deal more capable than she originally believed.

Meg wouldn't save her from this, though. Neither would Rogan.

There was a point at which the silence became deafening, though. She grew anxious, fidgeting with the sleeve of her shirt and the laces on her boots, sighing heavily and swiping hair out of her eyes. Rogan still watched her, and eventually she leveled an agitated stare in his direction. Unfair, she knew. But her frustration had no outlet at present, and even fucking to relieve tension didn't appeal to her right now.

Rogan looked away from her briefly, his ear twitching. She almost smirked, but there was no joy in such a victory. If it even was a victory. "Did the Baroness see you?" He finally asked.

At least he was smart enough not to speak of what happened in the barn. There was a time not long ago when discussing her mother would have been the worst possible thought. Yesterday, in fact, she would have said so. Now it was utterly swallowed by her present predicament.

"No. I hid near the cellar. She only stayed for a moment--Vaia lied and told her I wasn't here.
