When Janet came the next day for their therapy session Davina noticed that she was more reserved then when they first started. Her heart went out to Janet; she of all people knew what keeping secrets could do to a family. She tried to give Janet her space, but midway into their session, Davina just stopped. Janet was confused; she didn’t know what was happening.

“Okay Janet that’s it, I’m done for the day. I am no longer feeling motivated to keep pushing forward. Maybe I will just give up and stay where I am. What do you think about that Janet?”

Janet was still confused as she replied, “What is going on? Why would you give up on what you have done? You have come so far and made great strides.”

To this Davina simply smiled. “Yep, so why would you give up on our friendship? We’ve worked so hard and come so far; you’ve kept me motivated. Even when I wanted to give up on myself, you kept on pushing. So how do I look allowing you to give up on this? I understand you don’t have to talk about the events that have recently occurred, but for you to not talk to me at all and treat me like a stranger is not okay.”

Janet could only half smile at her, Davina just didn’t understand. It wasn’t easy; this new knowledge was messing with her mind. Janet knew she didn’t know all the details yet, but just the fact that she potentially has family. She had been alone for a while now. What if she couldn’t handle being a part of one? She was thankful for Davina and her friendship, it meant more than she would ever be able to express to her friend. At the time when she needed someone the most, and something to keep her focused, there came this case. No one knew what skeletons she had in her closet.

She was no good with relationships; Janet managed to finally escape an abusive relationship. After two years, not all bad, she had escaped from Bo, her own private nightmare. Her ex-boyfriend had come close to killing her on more than one occasion. The last time was the worse. The accident that she was in, that pinned her between two cars, was no accident at all.

Bo had been so nice and kind when they first met. He promised her the world, and in the beginning, he gave it to her. Then slowly things started changing. She noticed he would take off work, to be at home when she was off. That wasn’t much to be concerned about, but then when she was working, he would show up to her client’s homes unexpectedly. Bo always had an excuse though, and he could charm his way through anything. He would say he locked his keys in the house, or that he left his phone so he couldn’t call ahead. The worst one was when he said he just had to see her.

At first, she just thought he was overprotective, and that he genuinely missed her.
