Over an hour passed, and Jayvon still wasn’t back. I was irritated to the max. Thankfully, my crew at the shop could hold it down in my absence. I very much so lied whenever I used the shop as my excuse to bail from school because everyone employed at Sassy & Classy was money-hungry paper chasers. They opened earlier than I woke up and closed down after I was in bed sometimes. They didn’t need me to hold their hands or micromanage their grinds.

After I play-packed, I used the time Amp was forcing me to stay inside to study since I was supposed to be in class anyway. Pulling out my textbooks and the notes I’d taken in class before leaving, I dove right into the material. I even jotted notes downs along the way that were good ideas to implement for my shop. The more information I processed about marketing plans for my upcoming test, the brighter I believed my future could be as an entrepreneur. Even though many things would have to change before I could, I’d set a goal of opening up another location. It wasn’t an impossible goal to attain either. Amp was just gonna have to get with the game plan.

Taking a break from studying, I pulled out the notebook I kept for Sassy & Classy and went over my to-do list as well as the numbers so I could do a deposit drop at the bank first thing on Monday morning. Then I restocked some hot items, ordered some new pieces, and did a media blast online. I was always working on improving Sassy & Classy’s social media imprint and was considering hiring an assistant to help until the end of the semester. I was pulled in too many directions and starting to feel slightly burnt out.

My phone rang as soon as I got ready to start back studying. I thought it was Jayvon responding to my text about him feeling my wrath if he was with another female. But it wasn’t. My caller ID read Customer Brielle, which meant it was really Bryce calling. He was stored under an alias to throw off Jayvon if he ever saw him calling. He’d knock my head in between the washer and dryer for giving a nigga my number, square or not. He’d swear all the times I didn’t answer the phone during lectures was because I was cheating.

“Hey, Bryce.” I hopped up out of bed and peeked out the blinds to make sure the coast was clear.

“Hey, is this a good time, or does the boutique have you tied up?” he questioned at the sound of my voice.

“Actually, you couldn’t have called at a better time. I’m just getting in from taking care of stuff at work,” I lied.

“Cool. That’s good you’ve taken care of things. I know how important Sassy & Classy is to you. I’ll shoot you over an email of all the notes you missed once I get home and scan them in.
