BIBLIOGRAPHY

646. “Bibliography of Jewish Law Articles in Selected Law Journals”, JLA III (1980), 245–257.—Published as an Appendix to the Annual's normal Survey of Recent Literature, and prepared largely by L. S. Rothenberg, this listing of 241 items from the late nineteenth century to date is arranged under the same topical headings as the regular Survey. The law journals covered range from American law reviews to European legal history journals and Hebrew-language Israeli legal periodicals. The same issue of the Annual carries a list of the publications of the late Rabbi Dr. Arnost Zvi Ehrman (72–73), as an appendix to the author's posthumous article (infra, no. 827).

647. J. Modrzejewski, “Bibliographie de Papyrologie Juridique 1962–1972”, Archiv für Papyrusforschung 24/25 (1976), 263–328; 26 (1978), 161–231.—The second part of this descriptive bibliography includes sections on “Les Juifs dans l'Orient hellenise” (193–195), and on the significance of the Babatha archive for our knowledge of Roman procedure in the provinces (204–205).

648. Shmuel Shilo, “Modern Issues in Jewish Law”, Immanuel 10 (1980), 114–127.—A series of summaries or notices of all the articles which have appeared in volumes I through V (1975–1978) of the Shenaton Hamishpat Haivri, ed. M. Elon, published by the Institute for Research in Jewish Law of the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. The rubrics under which the articles are arranged are: family law—twelve articles on various subjects, abortion, temporary separation, husband's liability for wive's debts, etc.; civil law—eleven articles on various subjects such as partnership, bailment, interest, agency; criminal law—four articles; constitutional and administrative law; philosophy of law and comparative law; and bibliography, reviews, etc. This most thorough review is an excellent introduction to the contents of the Shenaton, whose articles are significant addi-tions to modern scholarship in Jewish law.
