We arrived at the clubhouse to find the inner circle fully present and waiting on Apache. Drake was frowning at something on his phone, and I wasn’t surprised when Dylan Hawthorne and Antonio Ramirez walked in with Ben behind them. The surprise was when Akemi, the man Artemis claimed as a brother, entered. The inner circle entered the sanctum, and church was called. Ramirez, Hawthorne, Ben, and Akemi joined the brothers there. I saw Hawthorne nod several times, and Ramirez ran his hand across his face. Ben asked questions, and I was watching avidly when someone stepped into my line of sight. Instantly I shrank back at the figure, and they froze.

“Silvie, it’s me,” Rock said, and I relaxed with a sigh.

“Sorry Rock, I didn’t see you,” I explained, but his eyes were watchful and alert. Slowly, he lowered his body into a seat and sat opposite me. His arms rested on his thighs, and I forced myself to relax. Rock’s sharp gaze caught it, and I opened my mouth, but he beat me to the punch.

“Shit’s too much, ain’t it?” Rock rumbled and caught the attention of Lowrider and Lex. Both came over and stared at me.

“I’m fine,” I said airily and waved a hand to emphasise that.

“Bullshit, the attack from Frenzy,” I flinched as Rock said his name, “and now the hit and run. You’re at breaking point.”

“Rock, honestly, I’m fine. Apache and I sorted our differences, shit’s great,” I said, forcing a smile. Actually, I wasn’t, and this perceptive man opposite knew it.

“Don’t need to be strong with us,” Lowrider said gently, and I swallowed tears.

“Rider…” I said, and my voice broke. There was too much going on. Frenzy’s attack bothered me still. I woke screaming in the night with visions of dead women and tortured bodies. But being me, I told no one, it was a shock I’d slept soundly in Apache’s bed. The hit and run remained a blank nothing, I remembered feeling fear, horror, despair, and a rampaging urge to reach Rage. Which meant what I had discovered was huge because I’d pulled away from Rage. Only something huge could have forced me to run for Rage.

I was dealing with my old pain and heartbreak, I couldn’t ignore them, and even though Apache and I were together, they remained. The drama of my running away and meeting Brady, finding a rare man who only wanted friendship. Added in amongst all that, was the fact there had been a rift caused by me, between the brothers and old ladies. Even tonight, the old ladies weren’t here, just skanks and whores. And there was everything else going on. Yeah, shit was too much, and I wasn’t strong enough to handle much more.

“Silvie, you need a break or someone to talk to,” Lowrider said. He placed a hand on my leg, and before I could understand, Apache was there at my side.

“What’s wrong?” Apache demanded. His gaze narrowed as he took in my pale face and turned a glower on the brothers.
