This bed is amazing… if only it weren’t for the lump in the mattress digging into my butt cheek.

I try to roll away from it, but I’m tangling into the blankets, and there’s something holding me in place. I pat around with my hands, feeling skin… lots and lots of skin…

My eyes fly open and I try to sit up, but again, I’m caught by the arm around my chest, his hand curled around my shoulder, holding me in place.

“Oh, hell,” I groan. There’s the barest hint of a headache at the edges of my mind, the remnants of too much alcohol, followed by not enough water.

I look around the room and debate how the hell I’m going to get out of this without waking him up. For as massive as this bed is, we’re certainly not using much of it.

A voice muffled under all my hair asks, “What time is it?”

I drag my hair around to the front, uncovering Zack’s face. He’s all sleep-rumpled, with pillow creases across the cheek, and I just about melt from how adorable he is. “I dunno,” I answer, craning my neck to look at the digital clock on the night table. “It’s only 7:20. Go back to sleep if you want. I’m going to shower and get ready for breakfast.”

Except when I go to move again, his arm tightens further, and it suddenly become clear that it’s not only a lumpy mattress…

“Please tell me you’re not poking me with your morning wood,” I say, reaching back to poke Zack’s side.

His body goes still. “Maybe…” he admits slowly. When he moves his hips, there’s certainly no denying it.

“Well,” I begin, prying his arm away, “how about I jump into the shower and you take care of that.”

“But it’s so much more fun when you take care of it,” he grumbles, rolling over onto the warm spot I just vacated.

I go to answer, but when I turn back to the bed, his breathing is already evening out again. He’s gone straight back to sleep.

I shake my head. Just as well. It’s going to take me a good hour to get myself to the proper level of jealousy-inducing.

First up, the shower, where I shave everything—even if it was already smooth, even if it’ll be covered by clothing. I use my favorite shampoo and a body wash that smells good enough to eat. Yep, I want Daniel to think about eating me, and then die a little inside when he realizes it’s Zack who gets to take me home.

I straighten my hair, add product, then I curl it. It sounds counter-productive, I know, but when I get a glimpse of the final look, I can’t stop myself from smiling. Yes, this is perfect. I’m just pulling out my make-up bag when there’s a knock at the door. I pull it open and laugh at the bleary-eyed man standing on the other side. He squints in the harsh fluorescent lighting.

“Are you almost done in here? I’ve had to pee for twenty minutes.
