To serve

¾ cup (6 ounces) whole milk per serving, heated

Special Equipment

Pastry brush

Two (2.5-inch-diameter) silicone chocolate molds, with 6 molds each

Toothpick

12 Christmas-themed mini cupcake liners (optional)

Line a sheet pan with parchment paper. Using the pastry brush, dust the inside cups of the molds, including the edges, with the luster dust.

Place the red candy melts in a medium microwave-safe bowl. Microwave on high, uncovered, in 30-second increments, stirring in between, until melted and smooth. Spoon 1 teaspoon of the melt into the cup of each mold. Using the back of the spoon, spread to completely cover the cup, making sure to pull upward to coat the edges. Place the molds in the refrigerator to set, about 5 minutes.

If after 5 minutes the edges of the mold seem thin, apply a second, thin layer of the melt as needed. Return to the refrigerator to set, 3 minutes more. When set, gently unmold the shells and place them on the prepared sheet pan.

Warm a small skillet over medium heat, about 1 minute. Remove from the heat. Working with 1 shell at a time, gently melt the underside edges by touching it to the skillet for 2 seconds. Invert the shell and place it on the sheet pan. Fill with 1½ tablespoons cocoa mix, 4 marshmallows, and an elf-size portion of chocolate chips. Melt the edges of a second shell and attach the two halves by pressing the edges of the two shells together to create a round “bomb.” Repeat with the remaining shells.

Place the white candy melts in a small microwave-safe bowl. Microwave on high, uncovered, in 30-second increments, stirring in between, until melted and smooth. Use the toothpick to create zigzags across each bomb to look like the white collar on a Scout Elf uniform. Place the bombs in cupcake liners, if using.

To make a cocoa bomb treat, place the bomb in a mug and pour hot milk over the top. Stir and watch the marshmallows float to the surface! Yum!
