CHAPTER 11

Omari

After witnessing how hard Dr. Muhammad’s knees were knocking, I knew she’d gotten the picture. I couldn’t understand why she kept forcing me to show her I wasn’t a man to be fucked with. It seemed that no matter what I did to her, she would keep trying me, and that was unacceptable.

To get her to fall in line, I had to give her a demonstration of my power. It wasn’t something I wanted to do, but she left me with no other choice. I had to make it clear to her that I stand on business and that her attempts at trying to leave me came with consequences.

Still, despite the horror written across her face, and the tears cascading down her ebony cheeks, nothing could prepare me for how turned on I got when she clocked Honor. Her punch was comical, but it made my dick brick harder than concrete.

Honor was a scary looking muthafucka: tall, dark, scar over his right eye, tatted forehead, and had the physique of a linebacker. He hardly ever smiled, and when he did, Malik and I were the only people who witnessed it. However, Dr. Muhammad didn’t let his looks intimidate her.

The sheer determination she had to save Bailey was commendable, but it was nothing compared to how beautifully her face twisted when she delivered the punch. She looked like a warrior angel: strong of body, firm in voice, skilled in mind, and kind in spirit. It took a woman with a special kind of fire to let off on a stone-cold killer without giving it a second thought.

Before then, I knew I wanted her, but that moment solidified how perfect of a woman Dr. Muhammad was for me. My lifestyle came with many dangers, so I needed a spouse who wouldn’t fold under pressure, and she’d proven how formidable she would be in the face of hard times.

I fucking loved it! But for now, I had to push those thoughts aside and head upstairs to check on Malik. Dr. Muhammad had me enraged, so it was best to get away from her while I had control of my temper. Though I would never physically harm her, I knew if the words floating around in my head were to come out, they could do just as much damage.

Part of what had happened was my fault. The room was my mother’s. As a matter of fact, the entire wing had been here. King had wiped her touch from everywhere, which was why I hadn’t known her room was still intact.

I’d found it after I killed him. It was the one place in the house we’d been forbidden to go. That was why as soon as he was dead, I kicked the door off the hinges. Imagine the shock I got after seeing my mother’s room still in the condition it was the last time I’d been inside.

Seeing it made my chest ache, it brought me unimaginable pain, and I never entered. Had been too fearful of the memories it would dredge up to do so.
