2 Days Until Dream Wedding

Somehow, Milo ended up next to Harry in the van that drove them to town. He did his best to breath deeply, into his stomach, not the shallow chest breathing that put him in panic mode. Kylie had made fun of him for doing yoga—said it wasn’t a manly thing to do—but the breathing had gotten him through more than one fight with his sanity intact.

Sitting next to Harry was testing Milo’s patience to the limit, however.

It started the second they got into the van.

“Why are we doing this and not Harper?” he asked. “Isn’t she supposed to be the baking expert?”

“Because we won the karaoke contest,” said Wade, from the seat in front of them. They were in two rows, with Eli sitting up front with the driver. Milo had Harry on one side and a cameraman on the other.

“Besides, this is her sister’s wedding, she shouldn’t have to worry about the cake,” said Eli. “It’s a lot of work, and her bakery is already under enough pressure with her being gone for ten days.”

“So she gets a break, but we had to set up the barn for them?” Harry crossed his arms over his chest.

Not that Harry had helped during that task. Fox had told Milo how Harry had been too busy on his phone to pay attention to anything that had been going on. He hadn’t even noticed when his fiancé had gotten hurt. Though from the looks of Reagan’s face this morning, she’d been hurt by something—or someone—else. She’d run off toward the woods before the guys had gotten back to the inn, and Milo had been worrying about her ever since. At least with Harry in the car, Milo knew she was safe from him for a few hours.

Milo took another deep breath as the car slowly made its way down the mountain—too slowly.

“Do you really want to eat Harper’s truffle lavender poppy seed sponge cake at the wedding?” Eli was laughing, but Harry just frowned.

“That sounds delicious, actually.”

Milo turned his head to see if Harry was joking, but his face was deadly serious.

“At least she has decent taste and won’t just make some vanilla buttercream monstrosity to satisfy the uncultured palates of this backwoods mountain town.”

“Hey.” Milo spoke up for the first time. None of the other guys were from the area, but this was Milo’s hometown, after all. “There’s heaps of great food here.”

“If you like barbecue and cornbread.” Harry rolled his eyes.

“Doesn’t everyone?” said Wade, who turned around in his seat to stare open mouthed at Harry.

“Those were two of the things I missed the most when I was away,” Milo said. While grilled pineapple and Pavlova had been nice, Milo had been craving smoked brisket ever since his plane had touched American soil. “That and chocolate chip cookies.”

“Well now you can gorge yourself silly. I’m sure that’s exactly what the girls will plan for the menu.”

“I bet we can arrange a special meal for you if you need it, Harry.
