Serena

I check the oven, making sure the timer is set. I don't mind making doughnuts for these guys. Probably. Maybe they aren't that bad.

How Vrek pinned me to the wall and fucked so well that...

Fuck... I shouldn't think about that.

My cheeks are burning and they’re probably so red that it’s embarrassing.

There is a low hiss of the door. I've already told everyone that I need solitude for the doughnuts to work and they have been believing that. So...

"Vrek?"

"No."

I spin around at the deeper and more powerful voice. It is the captain, so no wonder he came in regardless. Maybe those waiting outside told him, and maybe he saw the note I stuck on the door, but he ignored those. I doubt any of the uzains would dare to stop the captain.

What should I say?

He looks around and stares at the oven. "When will they be ready?"

"Soon?"

He snarls.

I check the timer on the oven. "Another ten minutes before I can fry them."

"Good." He comes over, getting closer and closer. I fight the urge to take a step back. He is a huge guy and I'm not sure what he wants.

He lifts his brows. "Where are you going?"

"Um... Nowhere? Do you know that..."

"The doughnuts need solitude?" He snorts what sounds like a laugh, but his face is so serious that I don't even dare to joke. "I don't deal with stupidity. There's no such thing."

Did he see through it? All the others believed it though.

He grabs my collar and yanks me off the floor. He hisses. "Maybe you should realize everything on this spaceship is mine and that includes you."

I flinch. Vrek yanked me off the floor before, but he hadn't been this scary. It feels like this captain wouldn’t hesitate killing me if he has to, or even... if he wants to. Maybe this is what the captain of the dangerous bandit gang is capable of. And maybe this is his way to manage and control all these huge uzains.

He leans even closer. "You seem scared."

My lips are trembling even though I wish to keep that at bay.

He leans even closer, so close that his hot breath lands on me as if he is sniffing me, getting ready to put me on the table for dinner. "Have you been lying to me?"

"I..."

"Human, if I were you, I'd be very careful. Vrek seems to like you."

Fuck... Is he here because of that? Because he thinks that he is the captain and he isn't happy with how I'm staying in Vrek's room? Vrek mentioned that no females are allowed, so...

He hisses at my face.

I roll my eyes. "No way. You kidnapped me and forced me out of my life. Even if he likes me, I hate him."

The world in front of me spins and a shadow approaches. I gasp and close my eyes. Waiting for him to smack my head into the wall.

I shudder, anticipating my crushed skull and blood. It takes seconds before my head taps the wall.

But it doesn't hurt.

I open my eyes to find my head against the wall.
