CHAPTER 20
AJ
I walked down the alleyway from the customs. I was fucking pissed.
Fuck. I always thought Rosalie reminded me of someone, it just didnât fully click. She was the girl I stole the lowrider from a while back. Well, if she didn't want to believe me, then fuck her.
People wanted to keep judging me for my past, then let them. I didnât need anyone who wouldnât take my word for it. While yes, a year ago I was much more reckless and didn't give a fuck, I had different priorities now than I did back then. I rounded the corner out of the alleyway and walked down the sidewalk. The streetlights were already on, so it was later than I thought. I kept walking, but instead of heading toward home, I made my way to the free gym on the edge of the beach.
âGuess thatâs that. Never thought Iâd fuck this over with that steal. How the fuck did I not notice she was the same girl?â
But I knew why, and it made my jaw clench. The realization hit me like a punch in the gut. How did I miss the connection? The girl in the garage was beautiful, but still yet to grow into the body she had now. Also, she had been terrified of me.
The Rosalie I knew today was different. The image of her surfaces in my mindâher vibrant personality, infectious laughter, and passionate expressions. I can almost feel the curves of her body, the softness of her lips, and the changes in her face over time.
Rosalie Wells was sexy as fuck in all the right ways, but her innocent personality didnât even let her realize the way she looked to men yet. I fucking hated to admit I had gotten really into that relationship. Most girls I had a use for. While, at first, I thought it would be fun to pull a girl whose brother told me was off-limits, I got invested in her more than Iâd ever been before. But it was all over now. I got it might have caught her by surprise, but one thing from my past popped up, and she threw everything in the trash.
Her swift judgment of me made me more frustrated. But I was determined to get her out of my head tonight. I pushed forward, jogging toward the beach where I would work it off.
The gear was a little worn down, but everyone respected it. I approached the punching bag and slammed my fists into it. Again and again, I made the bag swing, making it groan against its chain as I punched it to its max. My vision got cloudy as my anger started to take over. I didnât know how long my mind went black, but eventually, I came to and found the punching bag ripped and its sandy contents spilled onto the ground. Fuck. I reached into my pocket, pulled out a couple hundred, and threw it into the gym safe to replace it. Those of us who could afford it, helped keep the gear updated here and there.
