“That dress is so cute! Jason won’t be able to keep his hands off you!” Zani hyped me up and I had to admit I agreed.

She had been spending a lot of time over here lately. She carried herself like she was tough and nothing bothered her but I knew that wasn’t the case. I knew because I did the same thing so it was easy to see through. It was crazy that she’d trade her million dollar home for a townhouse in the hood but Zani was more than welcomed. Her and Yasmine got along and my mom welcomed her with open arms like she did the rest of the neighborhood.

I’m sure some of it had to with her crush on Coop too. I had to admit the two of them together were cute but Coop was only capable of behaving for a short amount of time. Zani had a big heart and I feared her falling for Coop only to have her heart broken in the end.

“You look good too.”

“Thanks, you think Coop will like it?”

“If he doesn’t he’s blind. You look good girl.”

“Thanks.”

“Can I ask you something?”

“Anything.”

“Are you a virgin?” I asked hoping that I didn’t offend her.

“What made you ask that?”

“Just curious I guess. Are you?”

“No, I’m not.”

“How did you know you wanted to?”

“I’m guessing you and Jason haven’t but you want to?” She asked.

“Is it that obvious?” I asked and she nodded her head yes, “I don’t know if I don’t want to, you know what I mean.”

“I get it but when you’re ready you’ll know. It sounds stupid as fuck but it’s honest.”

“Did you regret it after?”

“I did but, in the moment I felt like it was the right decision. I just wish I gave myself to somebody that cared about me the way I cared about him.”

“What happened to yall?”

“He went off to college to live his life. We tried the long distance thing but you know how that goes. After a while he hit me with the we should see other people bullshit. After he got what he wanted he didn’t need me anymore.”

“That’s what I’m afraid of.”

“I mean I know girls who’ve done it and nothing changed then there’s people like me. You’ll never know so do it because you want to. Not because he wants you to.”

“Thanks Zan.”

“You know it girl. I got you always.” She smiled going back to the mirror to finish her makeup, “Now, let’s get out of here. The limo should be here any minute.”

“McEachin is around the corner. Your car would’ve gotten us there just fine,” I chuckled. One thing about Zandria Arnette she didn’t half ass anything. It was homecoming at McEachin and Coop asked her to be his date. Instead of just driving, she had her mom rent a limo so we could pull up like royalty.

“All of us wouldn’t be able to fit. Shameik and his girl are riding with us too,” she informed me, “Is that okay?”

“Of course, I just didn’t know they were riding with us that’s all.
