Matilda

It’s nearly two-thirty in the morning when I step out of the shower and grab a bathrobe from behind the door. I wrap it around myself and fight back a laugh. This is my third shower today. Third! At this rate, I’m going to be solely responsible for the excessive water bill or the reason we run out of hot water. What was I supposed to do? Sit here all day covered in cum and blood? I don’t think so.

I remove my hair from the towel at the top of my head and scruff it through my hair a few times, making sure it’s dry enough before I toss the towel on the floor and move to step out of the bathroom.

Thankfully, Charli is gone. I crave peace and quiet I get with just my boys. I enjoyed our time with Charli and I doubted she would have overstayed her welcome, but… We had one of the prospects make sure she got home safely only after I made her cum for a third time. I enjoy having fun, but I like to have my peace too and I haven’t really had a minute of that in the last forty-eight hours. It seems like my guys have calmed down quite a bit too. Apparently getting laid really helps take the edge off of all of us. Like I’ve always said, it’s toxic but it works for us. There’s nothing traditional about our fucked up relationship and I’m okay with that. Besides, it’s no one’s business but our own.

I glance at the door and sigh. I’m not quite ready to come out of hiding, but I know I’ll have too. I wonder if we can talk about things like civilized human beings. Or perhaps I should just leave it and not poke the bears. Maybe I could just slip out the front door and make a run for it. I open the bathroom door and instantly two pairs of eyes are on me. Fuck me, so much for making a run for it.

Steele is sitting on the couch and when he sees me come out of the bathroom, he pats his lap. “Come here, Pet.” His tone is surprisingly gentle.

I cross the room and happily climb up into his lap. I feel safest when I’m this close to him. I adjust my robe as he starts to stroke my hair. I lean into him and close my eyes. I let out a breath and just let myself bask in the comfort of being surrounded by him. He smells like fresh pine after a thunderstorm, it’s calming to me and he makes me feel like I’m at home there in his presence. When I open my eyes again, I catch Adder’s gaze. He’s staring at me intently, like he wants to say something but doesn’t know what. He hates fighting as much as I do and I really don’t like the distance that’s been grossly apparent between us. I caused it. I don’t have a right to be upset.
