No force in the universe could have stopped Ax from kissing Luci in that moment. It wasn't just the fear on her face. It was everything. She needed comfort, and he was the only one who could give it to her.

He'd be a monster to refuse.

But that wasn't the point. Not really. He couldn't resist her ever, and if he could find a way to keep her once they were safe back on Aorsa, he'd move all the stars to do it.

His mind was still ringing with the possibility of the Match, even as he lost himself in her kiss, but that was a problem for another time. No, not a problem. It was a hope he couldn't even comprehend. He hadn't gone looking for his Match, and yet here she was. But if they bonded, it would change their lives in ways they couldn't begin to imagine.

For now he was going to put it out of his mind. Survive first, worry about the future later.

But even thoughts of long term survival paled in comparison to his plans for what to do to Luci next. Part of him wanted to rip her clothes off and have his way with her right now, to deepen the kiss with a feral intensity that would have her crying out for more. But Luci was still injured from her fight with Hanna, and he would not risk causing her even an instant of pain.

She reached for his shirt and jerked it up, but Ax placed a gentle hand on her wrist. "There's no rush."

"Isn't there?" Her eyes were still wild with fear, but lust was beginning to bleed in there, her cheeks flushed and breath coming faster. She was racing towards the end, but Ax wanted to show her how to savor the journey.

But to do that, he wasn't going to remind her of where they were and what was happening. It would be hours before they reached Kilrym, if that was where they were headed, but she wanted to forget why they had to pass the time, and he wasn't going to remind her. "No rush," he repeated, kissing her gently on her cheeks and then returning to her lips to savor her taste.

Luci's hands fell away and she let him lead the kiss, her tongue tangling with his and savoring the moment. He could spend a whole night like this, a whole lifetime, perhaps, but the current location left a lot to be desired.

He let one of his hands drift over the thin material of her pants at the juncture of her thighs, and Luci let out a surprised gasp at the contact. She caught on quick after a moment of confusion, spreading her legs and arching against him as he stroked her through her clothes.

It probably wouldn’t be enough to get her off, but this wasn’t just about the climax, it was about the moment and bringing her pleasure.
