Chapter sixteen
I RAN UPSTAIRS TO MY room, threw some clothes into a bag for tonight, and I went out and hopped into my car. After spending a few seconds just absorbing the fact that I was in my own set of wheels and I could go wherever I wanted, I stuck it into drive and steered it towards Hitchâs place. Twenty minutes later I had pressed in the code to his security gate, parked in his driveway, and was knocking on his front door.
Hitch opened the door and my heart started beating out of my chest like a cartoon character. He looked damn sexy. It was almost like Iâd forgotten just how good-looking he was.
He was dripping with sweat and wearing only a pair of black shorts. I knew heâd been working out in his home gym and my guess was that heâd been giving his punching bag a good beating.
Hitch looked at me and then glanced up at my car parked in his driveway. âYou know Louis has a tracking device on that car, donât you?â he said dryly.
I nodded. âYeah, but he was tracking me through my phone anyway.â
Hitch lent on the doorframe, blocking me from entering his house. âSo what can I do for you Jen? You canât be here for food because Iâm sure you got everything you needed from Louis today.â
I sighed and put my hands on my hips. âAre we really doing this now? I thought we sorted all this jealousy crap out yesterday. You havenât even called me Sweetheart all afternoon. I know Iâm in the doghouse when Iâm just Jen.â
âI thought you said you werenât sleeping with Louis?â
I sighed, completely exasperated. âHitch, I havenât slept with Louis, and didnât you say you didnât care if I was? That you couldnât commit for the next year, so I was a single girl, free to be with whoever I wanted?â
Hitch sighed and his shoulders softened. âYeah, that is what I said. I think seeing Eden again is making me crazy.â He reached out and took hold of my hand. âIâm trying really hard to control my jealousy. You just need to tell me to take my head out of my arse when it gets out of control... Sweetheart.â
âI can do that.â
âThank you,â Hitch said with a grin. âNow, Iâm going upstairs to take a shower. Can I interest you in one?â
I smiled. âDo you really think Iâm that easy Hitch? You insult me, then apologise, then have sex with me. Youâre beginning an unhealthy cycle.â
He smiled a slow, sexy smile and pulled me tight up against his hot, sweaty body. âDid you ever think that maybe Iâm just insulting you so we can have make-up sex?â
I melted into him and cursed myself for not being able to fight harder against his advances. The man was the hottest, sexist thing to ever walk this planet. I couldnât really be blamed for my weakness, could I?
Hitch reached down and picked me up, kicking the door closed behind me.
