will either encourage the employer to offer the raise in order to keep the employee or start questioning if they really want that employee in the company at all. And when you’re low on the ladder, like I am, you often don’t have much leverage with which to negotiate.
This pretty much means your ability to grow within the fi rm will be limited. It also causes you to doubt yourself, which may result in a self-fulfi lling prophecy.
To avoid this, the company should ultimately proac-tively offer the employee a raise.
