Since, at this point, C2 contains IV2 ⊕ IV5, you add the equation IV2 ⊕ IV5 = P4 to E2. Now it’s entirely possible that as you add equations to E2 it becomes non-invertible, i.e., there’s no way to solve it for initial values IV0, ...,IV5. In that case, you’ll need to backtrack and pick another cell to contain the next cleartext subprogram.
