Chapter Thirteen

Aimee sat at Rashad’s house while aimlessly looking at the TV. He’d invited her over and she reluctantly agreed to stop by. She knew she had no business over at his house, especially when she had driven over by herself. Aimee was playing a dangerous game with not only her safety, but as well as with Big. If he was to find out that she was still seeing Rashad, there was no telling what his reaction would be.

In actuality, Aimee was using Rashad as a distraction. Deep down, her issues with Big hurt her. But at the same time, she didn’t want to be lonely. Rashad was a great guy, but he was no Big.

“Why are you so quiet?”

Aimee looked over at him and sighed. She didn’t mean to shut down on him. She just had a boatload of things occupying her mind.

“I have a lot on my mind, honestly.”

“Like what?” he quizzed.

“I don’t want to talk about it. So, how was your day,” she asked in attempt to change the subject.

“It was cool. I'm just glad it’s Friday. Did you have to work today?”

“Yes, and it was a long week.”

He smiled at her and then pushed a few strands of hair out of her face. “Are you sure you're good?”

“I'm positive.”

“A’ight. Me and my brothers are going up to the Dells next weekend, and I was wondering if you wanted to go?”

Shit, Aimee ranted. She wasn’t sure if she was ready to start taking trips with him just yet. They were still in the getting-to-know-you stage.

“I have plans next weekend,” she lied.

“Oh word? That’s cool. I just wanted to extend the invite.”

“I appreciate that. If anything changes, I’ll let you know.”

Aimee’s phone alerted her that she had a text. She opened the message.

Asia: Where are you? I'm at Big’s bar and he got some girl all over him. You want me to go check their asses?

Aimee could feel a sharp pain shoot through her chest. She had to read the message again to make sure she wasn’t dreaming. Suddenly, all she saw was red. Her heart was immediately filled with fury and pain. Aimee shot from her seat and grabbed her belongings.

“Rashad, I'm sorry but I have to go. It’s an emergency.”

“Oh a’ight.” He stood. “Call me and let me know how things go.”

Aimee didn’t even respond; she was out of the door before he could finish his sentence. She jumped in her car and cranked the engine. She drove off on a mission and that was to check Big. She didn’t care about him having an attitude with her. She still didn’t want to see another woman all over him. Aimee made it to Big’s bar in record time. She barely put her car in park before she jumped out.

Since the security guard knew Aimee, he let her in with no problem. She spotted Asia and Dinero at a table in the corner. She walked over and sat her purse down.

“Where is he?” she asked Asia.

“Girl, back there by the pool tables.
