After our back-and-forth conversation about what happened, Kacey and I took Aunt Val to her doctor's appointment. While she was being seen, I got a text from Kaz.

Kaz: Wassup, love, it's Kaz. How you?

Me: I'm good, just making some runs with my family. How are you?

Kaz: I'm chillin', can't complain. What the rest of ya day lookin' like?

Me: Nothing planned, probably just relax at home. I had enough heart-wrenching moments last night to last me a while, lol.

Kaz: Where you stay at?

Me: Brooklyn, how 'bout you?

Kaz: Queens… You up for some ice cream when you're done?

Me: Sure, that sounds chill.

Kaz: Aight, hit me when you're finished with your family.

Even though I know there is a motive behind the potential link-up, I couldn't help but smile at the thought of being in Kaz's presence. When we first ran into each other, I felt a static between us, something I didn't experience when I first saw Jayce in person.

"I'm going out for ice cream after this," I whispered to Kacey as her eyes were glued to her phone.

"With who?" she asked, turning her attention to me.

"Kaz." I smiled.

"Yesss bitch, there you go." We both started to giggle.

"What the hell y'all two ah kee kee-ing about over here," Aunt Val asked as the nurse wheeled her toward us.

Kacey and I were so in tune with our little conversation that we didn't notice Aunt Val coming out of the examination room.

"Oh, nothing, aunty. You ready to go?" I asked, smiling.

"Mmmhmmm, come on wit'cha lying ass." She shot me a dirty look.

Kacey and I bussed out laughing because if it's one thing, Aunt Val doesn't miss a beat. She catches on to everything and knows when we're bullshitting her. I won't be surprised if she knows what happened last night and just waiting for me to tell her. I will, though, in my own timing.
