Nia stepped out of the shower ready to face the day. Bart was absolutely right. The run had done her a world of good. Even if it wasn’t a real run—not even that much of a jog. But still it felt good.

It would take some time to figure out how to live at Puzzle House, not only as her ministry but also as her home. Getting back to her workout regime was the first step. And a good one. Next step would be to find some time to relax and read a novel or maybe ride her horse. Or maybe both.

She walked over to pick out her dress and then stopped. No dress. She was at home. She was blessed to be able to work in her home, so she might as well take advantage of that. Instead, she picked out a pair of striped capris. She chose a simple orange T-shirt that matched the orange and blue capris, then orange socks as well. When she checked out her image in the mirror, she grinned. She’d done away with her braids in favor of a simpler hairstyle. For now, it was short and natural, but that was subject to change. She might let it grow out some. Now she felt more like herself. She walked in to the Puzzle Room,

Nathan was sitting in front of the puzzle shelves.

“Hey, Nathan.”

He didn’t respond so she touched his shoulder.

He looked up. “Oh, I didn’t hear you come in.”

“What are you doing?”

“I thought I’d pick a puzzle. I didn’t pick one when I came so… I want to show Marcy that I’m trying.” He rolled his wheelchair to the middle. “Any suggestions?”

“Not from me. God has a way of helping you pick the exact one you need.” She signed as she spoke. “Where is everyone?”

“Out at the pool.”

“Why didn’t you go?”

He shrugged, chose a puzzle, and wheeled himself to a table. Then he dumped out the puzzle pieces. He stared down at the pieces for a moment then up at her. “That’s a lot of puzzle pieces. Now what?”

“I need to go out to the pool for a minute. I’ll be right back. You start on your puzzle while I’m gone.”

“I’ll try.”

The pool was between Puzzle House and the bunkhouse. Marcy was helping Nate to float. Cooper and Bart stood beside the pool ready to pounce if there was a problem.

She was blessed to have two heroes in her life. “Hey.”

Bart hugged her. “Don’t you look good. We’re just taking a break and watching the fun.”

“That’s good. I wanted to let you know Keisha’s back.”

“That doesn’t sound good.” Cooper frowned.

“It’s all good. She brought her mom and Takira with her, because she didn’t feel strong enough to stay in Atlanta. She says she didn’t do any drugs while she was there.”

“Do you believe her?” Bart asked.

“I do until I have reason to believe otherwise.”

Cooper nodded. “That seems like the right approach to me.”

“It is. The thing is, Takira doesn’t like to be around strangers or in a strange place.
