Rosencrantz was waiting for the woman to come out of the bank, his camera ready. When she finally stepped outside, he brought the camera up and held the shutter button down, getting multiple photos of her and the man named Theo Jordan. They spoke for a few seconds on the sidewalk before Jordan went one way and the woman walked over to her Jeep. Rosencrantz let her get turned around and tried to get a shot of her license plate, but he wasn’t sure if he got it or not. After a few other cars had passed by, he pulled out into traffic to follow. He’d gone no more than three blocks when he noticed that the woman was starting to pull away, and if he didn’t get any closer he was going to lose her at the next light.

Rosencrantz increased his speed as much as he dared, trying to keep up without being noticed. When the woman got to the intersection, the light turned yellow and she drove straight through. The car in front of him stopped, causing Rosencrantz to swerve around the vehicle and dodge another car that had just started to roll through from the left. One block later, with the woman’s Jeep still in sight, Rosencrantz caught the red and blue flashers in his rearview mirror and heard the burp of a county squad car siren. He swore under his breath, pulled over to the curb, and watched as the white Jeep turned another corner and was gone.
