…We feel moved to set out on this Pilgrimage of Confession because we are deeply disturbed by the situation in our country. We believe that we are in the midst of a most serious social and moral crisis. This society for which we are responsible is tearing husband and wife apart through the system of migratory labour. The lives of thousands of voteless citizens are being daily undermined by this set-up which flouts the command of our Lord: ‘What God had joined together, let no man put asunder’.
