Neil delivered those lines with a sense of confidence and conviction and walked off the stage to a round of spirited applause. I could tell from my vantage point that the audience appreciated how different this entire experience was compared to the typical, everyday lunch meeting they were used to enduring.
As Neil stood by the door, I saw person after person hand him the card and then make a comment about his talk, or ask him a question based on something they read on his personal biography.
When the last audience member finally left, Neil walked over and said, “Okay. I guess this works.”
Out of 47 people who had attended the meeting, he received 35 profile cards. This 75 percent response rate was an all-time record for him, based on his typical results of only 0 to 20 percent requesting a meeting.
