Chapter Thirteen

Reign

​Every year when winter rolled around I swore I was leaving Pittsburgh and moving down South. I hated the snow, cold and ice with a passion. Everyone close to me knew this.

​Kyrie usually took my vehicle to get it ready for the winter with a fluid check, new tires, oil change and anything else I might need. With him not around, my brother Rick knew I wouldn’t do it so he’d decided to switch cars for the day and take care of whatever I might need. Me and Rick were way closer than me and Ron Ron. I was actually able to talk to Rick about any and everything. He actually supported my decision to move on with my life, especially since he knew that nothing I did would slow his money down.

​He’d brought my truck back to me just when I was getting off work. I didn’t even notice his wallet was in it until he texted me when I was leaving the nail shop. Since I was already hungry and ready for a hot bath I debated on just telling him to come get it from my house but figured that would be selfish especially since he’d just gone out of his way for me. So I took him the wallet and got the surprise of my life when I saw Amour at the shop.

​His scent had stayed with me long after he walked away from me and his face was burned into my memory. I saw it countless times when I closed my eyes after a hard day’s work and wished he were next to me. I had even wondered if I had made a huge mistake by bringing up the topic of marriage right away. I knew that had to make it seem like I was rushing to get him down the aisle or something and we had just met.

​Mia swore that she had something to tell me about him but she had met a few guys at the party that took up her time and my crazy work schedule took up mine so we still hadn’t had the chance to talk. As I entered his apartment I decided that I didn’t care what she had to say about him. I would make up my own mind about him in due time.

​I had been expecting a simple place since this apartment was right above his shop and not his main residence, but this place was everything but that. As soon as I hit the door I could smell the Glade plug ins. He had an oversized black home theater power reclining sofa complete with the cup holders that faced a huge TV that was mounted on the wall. A glass coffee table was in the front and he had glass side tables. A black and red dinette set was in the large kitchen.

​“Go head and make yourself at home,” he told me as he walked towards the back. “I been on my feet all day and need to take a quick shower, then I’ll make you whatever you want.
