After talking to the doctors about how to take care of Juice while at home, we finally left. I couldn’t wait to get him out of there. The house was so empty without him these past nine weeks. Lucky for me, I had my new friend to keep me company.

“You bought a puppy?” Juice quizzed as soon as we walk in the house. My new teacup Pomeranian came running up to me. “Ma, what you go buy a dog for?”

“I was lonely, and I needed a friend.” I kissed China on her nose. I was so in love with her. I glanced over at Juice, and he did not look happy. “What? You don’t think she’s cute?”

“Nah, actually she ugly. She lowkey look like ya’ moms.” I thought he was going to crack a smile, but he didn’t. “We got a whole baby on the way and you out here buying pets. Ma, you really need to sit down somewhere and chill. You out here buying stupid stuff when you could be takin’ a cooking or cleaning class. Somethin’ worth the money that’s gon’ benefit you and me,” he snapped.

I turned my lip up so much that it was hitting my nose. I slowly put China down and folded my arms across my chest. I knew what this new attitude was about. It was her. It always came back to her. “And just what does that supposed to mean, Juice?”

“Just what it sounds like, ma. You out here doing the most. I recognize the new design you got going on in here. I peeped the new ride out back and, I noticed you rockin’ some new diamonds. You got mad comfortable wit’ my money while I was takin’ a cat nap huh?” I could see him grilling me.

“Well excuse me for doing all of this for you. I wanted to make sure I looked good, and the house was set up nice for when you came home.”

“Yo’, kill the lies, ma. You did this all for you. You want to know how a nigga know? For one, I hate pink and green, and this house looks like a green apple lollipop. Them diamonds around ya’ neck, wrist and ears too flashy and you know I ain’t like that You ain’t pleasin’ a nigga which is how I know ain’t none of this for me. It’s prolly for another nigga.”

I was more than offended when he said that. I would never in my life cheat on him. I been nothing but faithful to Juice since we started dating. He had some nerve. But I had to calm down because I knew where this was coming from. It was her.

“So, what did she tell you? Huh? Diamond got you thinking I’m out here cheating on you. If so, she got the roles mixed up because that’s your job,” I jabbed.

“Yea, you know what, ma. It is my job. A nigga ain’t happy wit’ you, so I cheated. That’s what you want to hear?” I could see the fire in his eyes behind his words.
