Chapter 8 SWAT

Leaderless, alone, and in the darkness, the country fell deeper into anarchy. As crime grew more violent and widespread across the nation, riot police and SWAT vans filled the streets, arresting the criminals without hesitation or discrimination. Even though they were not regular cops, every man was needed, and before long, they had run out of handcuffs and zip ties.

In the Deep South, neo-Confederate and white supremacist hate groups, including the KKK, had seized the opportunity presented to them by the blackout to march through the streets, flying the Dixie, Nazi, and American flags. Dragging the blacks out of their homes, they spilled their blood onto the streets. SWAT teams and a few honest police officers were struggling to stay the hand of hate that was sweeping through the South.

All across the nation, the Army and Air National Guard had mobilized and stood ready to deploy and take action against whatever more chaos might spring from the hole into which America was being sucked deeper. But, unable to coordinate, every commander was preparing for different scenarios.

Admirals of the US Navy had rushed to ports on either side of the nation. Aircraft carriers, destroyers, and cruisers set out from Norfolk on the Eastern Seaboard and from San Diego on the West Coast, unaware of each other’s actions. Charged with fending off whatever attack might be launched against America amidst its darkest hour, every captain had been given orders to engage whatever enemy they came across.

Canadian first responders and police gave aid to American law enforcement agencies on the border, helping to keep the chaos from developing even further and from spilling into their country. Even Canadian civilians were jumping in to help.

In the south, a few skirmishes were erupting along the border as white nationalist and supremacist groups began attacking Mexican border cities. US Border patrol did their best to keep the shooters on the northern side of the line and detain them, but they were ripped through by machine-gun fire when they tried to stop the terrorists from unleashing their demons.

In the cities of Washington, Alabama, Mississippi, Kentucky, Tennessee, and every other state the KKK was based in, massacres of the African-American population were beginning to take place. Unreported, no one outside of these cities knew of the horrifying carnage that was taking place as swastikas and crucifixes were set aflame across the country.

In D.C., the lootings were growing more numerous and aggressive. Metro cops were overwhelmed, struggling to arrest the looters and contain the chaos. Jail cells were filled to bursting, and the sidewalks were lined, five rows deep, with restrained criminals, some murderers, others, looters, many both.

Almost immediately after the looting had started in the city, the police had rushed to box in the crowd surrounding the White House grounds. The crowd stretched to the back of Capitol building, but the second perimeter was set up five hundred yards beyond the first one that had been quickly erected after the White House, Number One Observatory Circle, and the speaker’s house was blown up.
