I knew Taleah’s ass so well. After I brought her to the bad ass townhomes, she didn’t even bother to look anywhere else. She paid her deposit and signed her lease that day. I was glad we didn’t have to spend a lot of time searching, because I was hungry.

“Let’s get something to eat to celebrate you finding a spot,” I suggested as we got back in the car.

“That’s fine,” she agreed. “You pick.”

“Let’s go to La Madeleine. I want breakfast food.”

Taleah nodded. “You going to the one at Huebner Oaks?”

“Yeah, I think that’s the closest.”

“You mind taking me by that Bed, Bath, and Beyond over there? I wanna see what they have for my place.”

“That’s cool.”

Lucky for us, the wait at the restaurant wasn’t long. We were in and out in under an hour. I headed across the parking lot to Bed, Bath, and Beyond. I already knew Taleah could spend hours in this store, so I had to get my nerves together. I trailed behind her as she looked through comforters and sheets, giving her the occasional, “Yeah, that’s cute,” or “Ooh! That’s nice,” when she asked me questions.

Suddenly, I got that tingling feeling that let me know someone was looking at me. My eyes darted around the section and into the aisle. I had to do a double take at the man coming toward us. I hadn’t seen this nigga in two or three years. I elbowed Taleah. She turned around and grilled me.

“Ouch! What, girl?”

“Look at this bitch ass nigga,” I whispered.

She looked up and immediately her face balled up into a frown. Neko Clarke walked up on us, a big grin across his face.

“Ladies. Long time no see,” he greeted.

“That’s a good thing,” I snapped at him before turning back to look at the bedding.

“Don’t be like that, Kelsey. How is Chill?”

I smirked at him. “He’s good. I’ll be sure to tell him you asked.”

His smile slipped a little—Neko knew damned well Chill would have a fit about his approaching me. He turned to Taleah.

“And how you doing, shorty? Pretty as ever, I see,” he said before licking his lips.

Taleah sucked her teeth and ignored him.

“Look. I realize I owe you an apology. The way I came at you in the past was wrong. I was young and immature and I’m sorry,” he said, holding out his hand.

Taleah stared at it for a second before quickly shaking it.

“It’s cool,” she said. “It was a long time ago.”

See, her ass was too nice. I would’ve told that muthafucka to shove that weak ass apology up his ass. I might just tell Liam that he stepped to her, too.

“Neko!” a woman’s voice called him from the aisle. “I’m ready.”

Turning, I spotted a light brown chick with thick, curly hair and a bad ass body. She looked familiar, but I couldn’t place her. If she knew Neko, I probably had seen her around the Eastside before.

“Coming, bae,” he said, never taking his eyes off Taleah. “It was good to see both of you again.
